The categoriser is the heart of the product: the part that turns a bank feed into books that mean something.

Your vocabulary, not ours. The category picker offers the labels your ledger has already seen — there is no imposed chart of accounts, because a starter list is a guess about somebody's business that they then have to live with.

Rules, live today. A rule is born from a real line in your books: point at an unexplained line, say what should happen to lines like it, and every future match files itself. Rules apply in list order, run-all is a button, and re-running it decides nothing twice — that is a guarantee, not a coincidence. Retired rules stay on the page, labelled, so "we turned it off" never looks like "there was never a rule".

Test before apply. A rule shows you exactly which lines it would touch before it touches them — the blast radius is visible, always, in build now for retroactive application to existing lines.

Automatic filing, out of the box. in build now A categoriser will read each new line and file it under your vocabulary; you review and correct, and corrections stick. A matching rule always beats the model — determinism outranks cleverness — and there is no homework: you will never be asked to validate generated code to use your own ledger.
